Outing Highlights

THE COASTLINE

Paddling Sligo’s varied shorelines

Each week builds toward coastal exploration: sheltered lakes lead to open bay shorelines so you learn to read conditions and paddle in small chop under guided supervision.

THE SKILLS

A staged curriculum from basics to self‑rescue

The course sequences fundamentals—stance, kneel‑to‑stand, forward stroke—through stroke refinement, turns and self‑rescue drills so skillsets accumulate week by week.

THE FINISH

A signature coastal paddle and barbecue

Week five culminates in a signature Sligo coastal paddle followed by an optional barbecue and group celebration, weather permitting.

What the day feels like

What the five weeks feel like

Expect structured, two‑hour evening sessions that begin with a briefing and basics on sheltered water and progress each week into longer, more exposed paddles. Instruction covers equipment, strokes, turning and reading tide and wind; the group finishes with a coastal run and social BBQ when conditions allow.
