What do I need to bring?
Bring clothes suitable for being on the water (jogging trousers and a sweatshirt are suggested), a spare change of clothes, old trainers or wetsuit boots, towel, sun cream and a hat. Waterproofs or your own wetsuit are useful; wetsuit hire is available.
How much is wetsuit hire?
Wetsuit hire costs £5 per person.
Can children take part?
Children can participate from the age of 8, and must be supervised by an adult on the water.
Is there a weight limit for boards?
There is typically a weight limit of around 120 kg (18 stone) per stand up paddle board.
What about cameras and electronics on the water?
Waterproof cameras may be used but must be secured by a chest harness; the operator cannot accept responsibility for lost devices and the water can be in excess of 3m deep.
What happens in bad weather?
Rain does not usually cancel sessions—you are likely to get wet—but if there is lightning overhead sessions will be paused and resumed once the storm has passed; this may delay later sessions.
Will I encounter wildlife?
There are ducks and geese around the lakes, and fish of various sizes live in the water; be prepared to encounter local wildlife while paddling.
