Frequently asked questions

Planning Your Outing

What do I need to bring?

Bring clothes suitable for on the water such as jogging trousers and a sweatshirt, a spare change of clothes, old trainers or wetsuit boots for use on the water, waterproofs or your own wetsuit (wetsuits may be available to hire depending on location), a warm hat or sun hat, sun cream and a towel.

Can I hire a wetsuit?

Yes — if you would like to hire a wetsuit the cost is £5 per person (availability depends on location).

Can I bring a camera?

Waterproof cameras are permitted but must be secured by a chest harness; the operator cannot be held responsible for lost devices and wearing a camera is at your own risk.

What wildlife might I see?

There are ducks and geese around the lakes at Upton Warren, and fish of various sizes in the lakes.

What happens in bad weather?

Rain: sessions continue (participants are likely to get wet). Lightning: sessions are paused while lightning is overhead and will resume once the storm has passed; this may delay later sessions.

Is there a minimum age or weight limit?

Participants must be at least 8 years old and children must be supervised by an adult on the water; there is typically a weight limit of around 120kg (18 stone) per kayak.
