Jet-skiing Maunalua Bay: Yamaha VX110s, a floating activities island, and a protected Hawaiian coast.
H2O Sports Hawaii runs jet-ski outings on state-of-the-art Yamaha VX110 personal watercraft in the protected, calm waters of Maunalua Bay. The operation launches from a floating activities island at anchor — a partly sunken platform where instructors float the skis into position so guests can wade out, mount up and ski away — and the course is run under the supervision of US Coast Guard–licensed captains.

Outing Highlights
New WaveRunners and overseen safety
Riders use Yamaha VX110 personal watercraft — new, state-of-the-art skis — and the course is conducted with US Coast Guard–licensed captains watching the operation.
Protected Maunalua Bay and iconic shorelines
The protected waters of Maunalua Bay offer calm conditions and outstanding photo opportunities of the Hawaiʻi Kai coastline, Koko Crater, Koko Head and the Koʻolau Mountain Range.
A floating activities island as basecamp
The jet-ski operation uses a large anchored barge with open sunbathing areas, covered shade, bins for personal items, and a partially sunken platform that serves as the launch and recovery point; other water activities operate from the same barge on a space-available basis.
What the day feels like
How the outing unfolds
Check in at H2O Sports’ Hawaiʻi Kai Shopping Center headquarters, complete a safety brief and watch a safety video, then transfer by boat to the anchored activities island; after a roughly 30-minute safety/video and ocean transit on-site, an instructor positions the Jet Ski at the platform, you wade out, mount up and ski away in Maunalua Bay. Two passengers fit per jet ski, and rentals longer than the standard 30 minutes are available.
