Hands-on Swift‑Water Rescue Skills
The course emphasizes practical, scenario-based instruction in fast water: throwing ropes, wading, and swimming drills designed to teach participants how to operate safely and effectively in moving water.
What You Must Bring and Wear
Participants must dress for prolonged time in the water: closed‑toe shoes, plenty of food and drink, and a Type III PFD worn at all times in and near the water. A whitewater helmet and your throw ropes are also required or strongly encouraged.
Riverside Practice and Boat‑Based Primer
The curriculum includes extended in‑water drills with riverside access for breaks and lunch, plus a brief primer on boat‑based rescue techniques rather than a full paddling course.
