Paddle Nelson’s SUP Skills Workshops are two-hour, coach-led sessions designed to help self-taught paddlers and those seeking a refresher refine core on-water skills. Delivered in small groups with a supportive, challenge-driven approach, the workshops concentrate on paddling technique and balance; participants are expected to be comfortable paddling for the full two hours while standing on the sea.
Highlights
Outing Highlights
Forward paddling: power, efficiency and wind-handling
Workshop 1 drills into the nitty-gritty of forward paddling — applying more power, trusting the paddle, paddling straighter, handling wind and learning helpful auxiliary strokes to make long-distance paddling smoother and more efficient.
Turns & footwork: pivot, move and refine
Workshop 2 focuses on balance and movement on the board: improving footwork, walking the board, shifting the board sideways and sharpening pivot and other turning techniques so you can change direction with confidence.
Small-group, coach-led progression
Sessions are small, playful and progressive — run by SUP coaches who guide practical drills and shared challenges. Two different workshops complement each other, so paddlers can pick the session that fits their goals or return for both.
What the day feels like
What a workshop feels like
Expect a concise, focused two hours: a short shore-side sign-in and kit-up before a coach-led briefing, followed by on-water warm-ups and a sequence of targeted drills. Coaches layer instruction with practical feedback and run fun, progressive challenges so paddlers leave with actionable techniques to use on open water.

Details to review before reserving
Participants are expected to bring their own board; allow time to pump up and set up — it takes longer than you think. If you need to hire a board for the session, that can be arranged through the operator.
Each workshop runs for two hours; please arrive about 10 minutes early to kit up, sign in and receive a safety briefing.
If wind or conditions make ocean paddling unsafe, the operator will contact you in advance to move your booking—plan accordingly and drop a line if scheduled dates don’t work.
