THE EXPERIENCE

Drive your own team

This tour is built around giving guests control of the sled: after an introductory lesson you drive your own team, with the route divided into sections so drivers can switch and get comfortable behind the dogs.

THE RITUALS

Hands-on dog time and harnessing

At the kennel you meet the dogs, learn how to harness them and prepare for the run—part of the program is bonding with the huskies and seeing how they are readied for the trail.

THE PAUSE

Soup by the fire in a tipi

Midway through the route the group stops for a warm soup lunch beside a fire in a tipi, a deliberate break to warm up, refuel and swap drivers before returning.

What the day feels like

What it feels like on the trail

You begin at the operator’s place where you’re dressed in warm outerwear provided by the team and briefed on basic mushing technique—how to balance, hold on and use the brakes. After harnessing the dogs you set off in four short stages, pausing briefly after each stage to swap drivers or stretch. Midway there’s a fire-lit tipi stop for soup and coffee before turning back; the run ends at the kennel where the dogs are rewarded and guests change out of their overalls.
