I was on one of the rerouted treks when the Inca Trail remained closed on my departure date. I was thankful that there was a backup plan, and I ended up with 7 others rerouted to do the 3 day Lares trek plus 2 day Inca Trail. While there was a little confusion in early communications (slightly different info from email to check-in to orientation), I’m sure there was a lot for them to contend with given all of the rearrangements and uncertainty. Once we were on trek, however, things went smoothly. We had Valentin as our guide and he was amazing. He was quick to help us build camaraderie and ensure we felt taken care of. He was patient with all of our questions and easily accommodated our varied paces. We also had a magician of a chef named Wilberth. I had read good reviews about the food and they were not wrong. I ate better on the trail than I do at home. He was even able to accommodate a couple vegetarians in our group and one who couldn’t have dairy. The porters were all awesome and Valentin introduced them all and we heard a bit about their background. Having done this trek, it’s truly impressive what they’re able to do. Ultimately, I’m glad I went with Alpaca and didn’t cancel when the trail was closed. It was still an amazing experience and has left me with memories for a lifetime.

Alpaca expeditions is truly the best for hiking Machu Picchu. They have an amazing process and truly care about their hikers. After floods prevented us from doing the full 4 day Inca Trail they were able to adjust our hike to ensure we still got our full 4 days of hiking and a short Inca Trail. We had an excellent view of Machu Picchu and a wonderful tour. Miguel and Wilber were excellent guides and very knowledgeable. They made sure we were okay with altitude and feeling good. The porters are also incredible. Carrying all of our camp equipment and setting it up before we get there. Julian the chef made a feast for every meal and it was all delicious. Their level of organization and attention to detail is truly remarkable. It was an amazing experience and we had a great time!

What the most amazing experience. Jhimy and Rojer were exceptional guides and made sure we were taking care of. I was so impressed by how the company took care of their porters and chef. The food was better than any restaurant food. We were the first ones to the sun gate. Everything was amazing.

Amazing experience, fantastic food, exceptional guides and service! We absolutely had the best experience with Cesar’s team of Porters. They were efficient, helpful, hard workers, made everything SO EASY and helpful. Alfredo, our chef, was fantastic and organized with our food restrictions. He was so thoughtful. It was a beautiful experience and all delicious. Jhimy and Roger were exceptional guides. It was great information while humorous. They gave recommendations, kept the group informed and made the trek better in every way. 10/10 everything and highly recommend!!
