We did the longer outer loop, total about 5 miles. Very nice hiking with varied terrain, open forest, ledge, areas filled with glacial erratics and fields out by Quill Hill Farm. Good birding habitat! We heard many loons calling from Long Pond, heard pine warblers in the woods and saw a big flock of turkeys in the field. 7 Lakes Alliance is currently making improvements to the Outer Loop Trail, including rock steps and bridging over wet areas.

This short hike is one you can squeeze in or take your time as there is the longer “ outer loop” or a few out and back side shoots. Mostly forest views, glacial rocks and a few glimpses of the lake here and there. I took my time, took pictures and walked the outer loop and it was 1.5 hours. Note, there were a few blow downs to work around.
