Mountain Retreat at Trolltunga Aparthotel

Overall, everything was fine. Clean, fully equipped, with towels and bedding. The view is of the mountains and an old, unattractive building below. However, after 20km to Trollunga, it really won't matter 🫣 It's very close to the parking lots on Trollunga. The price is definitely overpriced, I think due to the location, but everyone knows what they're getting into. Overall, I'd rate it positively 😊

I called ahead and asked if I could leave my luggage there for a day while I climbed Trolltunga. The man said yes, no problem, and it would even be free. He also warned me that reception was open until 11:00 PM. When I arrived, I called again. It turned out there was no reception at all, and I had to book a room to leave my luggage. This was all told to me by the same man who had assured me a few hours earlier that my luggage could be left. I ended up finding another place, but it left a very unpleasant impression.

Not recommended for disabled people. But if you are well-functioning the apartments are in a great location.

My experience was amazing, the location gifted us a gorgeous view of the fjord and the mountain right next, every day morning we would have the big windows help us align to what Mother Nature at its majestic best looks like. The hotel in itself is curtailed to perfection for hiking the Trolltunga, with the designated pick up / parking spots a few minutes away. Further depending on ones budget there are dedicated apartments (with kitchen) or the other version with a shared kitchen. Check-in and check-out is pretty streamlined as the doors have numbered locks, further with a charge of 15 euros you can avail laundry facilities, which includes a washer, dryer and detergent + fabric softener. Plenty of parking in front of the hotel (plus this is Norway so you have electric chargers as well), if the parking slots are full, nothing to worry, just speak to the hotel and park on the slope towards the main road. We loved our stay, the apartment was spacious, clean and gave us a much needed break from our Norway itinerary. A few improvements I can think of: - in the bathroom there should be hand towels - in the bathroom you also need something to keep the floor dry, as you step out of the shower - a broom and a dust pan, in case you want to clean the room - in the kitchen you need a paper towel roll, its quite inconvenient if you are used to it (while cooking)

Very beautiful area, Tyssedal is such a small area so it feels a little tight but the rooms are surprisingly nice for some of the surrounding rundown buildings.
