Mountain Views at Phapoak Mountain

Fun to go just out of town, wander through some rice paddies and then scramble up a little mountain, sometimes on wooden ladders others just through the rocks. It has a nice view of the city and you can see the hot air balloons as they takeoff and land.

A great route, but be careful as the wooden ladder is a bit old and the road is not maintained. The outlook at the top is great.

Definitely not worth and in fact very dangerous to get up to the top. I trusted previous reviewers and clearly shouldn't have done that. I thought this was just a hike while in reality it was real rock climbing. It's extremely tricky to find the right path to go there to begin with and, when you finally start going up, it is not clear at all where the path leads, it's a slippery and rocky road and making it down is even harder. I got stuck halfway through on the way back and had to shout for help to get down. Thankfully, someone nearby heard me and they came up to help me down. By that point I had cuts and scratches all over myself, I was bleeding and utterly in tears. Please do not venture on this trail. The view isn't even that good. Learn from my mistake and stay safe!

Great destination! Enjoyed the open trail and peaceful outdoor atmosphere.

Find your own way to the mountain, there a few ways to access. It says 20,000kip per person, but there was a guy there (not sure if official) with little to no english who wanted 50 each. Didnt want to argue so paid 50 but for both of us. Went to cave which is small but has some really cool holes for crawling that are ace, great views from the top (not a long hike at all). as we came down the man again demanded 50k (in a friendly way wasnt agressive). Gave him some cigarettes and a bottle of water seemed to shut him up aha
