Elegant Escapes at The Ahwahnee

Great destination! Enjoyed the open trail and peaceful outdoor atmosphere.

We just toured the place but it's got an old style grandeur to it and it's a fantastic location.

The location is phenomenal and the hotel historic. But at $700+ per night plus $30/night for valet parking and the extremely mediocre, wildly overpriced cafeteria grade food, Unless you have money to burn, I think it is a better place to make a day trip or spend one night just to say you did. Otherwise, while I absolutely love Yosemite and I am happy to support the National Parks, I will be staying outside the park in the future.

A flawed gem in a spectacular location. There is probably few locations in the world that are a spectacular as this one. Having said that, if this hotel was in a big city or a place where there was competition, it would have been closed long ago. The cottage where we stayed was ok, the towels were threadbare and the rooms needed a bit of refeshing. For over $600 a night I’d expect top of the line linens and towels. There has been a much needed renovation going on for several years and the food service has suffered greatly. They have a buffet that rarely changes and the dishes are never replenished in a timely manner, so you have to back multiple times just to get the bare minimum. They have two salad choices, but how difficult would it to have a larger cold salad buffet? the bar “restaurant”nis average. They also do not remotely enforce any dress code. So while there is a minimal code, shorts, t-shirts and flip flops are accepted.I also hope during the renovation the water damage in the great room is repaired. It’s a beautiful spot but is marred by an unsightly ceiling. They instituted a valet parking system for everyone several years ago saying they needed to because the renovation had taken away self parking. Well, be prepared to wait unless you are at off peak times. Now the positives. The hotel is beautiful and the hikes and views nearby are amazing. So if you want to stay in a gorgeous place and historical location that is near to most of the amazing hikes. Book it and hold your nose, because Aramark has let the facility go downhill. This is our 20th time there and sadly Aramark is the worst of all the operators and each time there is some slippage in what they provide.

I love this place and just spent 3 nights and 4 days there. Got lucky with the weather as we thought we would be rained on the whole time. No rain but did have some lovely snow. Excellent little vacation celebrating my 70th birthday. I got up very early everyday and I owned the place.
