Gunung Gading National Park is located approximately 37 kilometers from Kuching in the Malaysian state of Sarawak on the island of Borneo. The park covers a tropical rainforest environment centered around Gunung Gading, a granite mountain rising to 965 meters. This park is internationally recognized for its population of the Rafflesia, the world's largest individual flower, which can grow over one meter in diameter. The park protects dense lowland and hill dipterocarp forests, offering critical habitat for diverse flora and fauna, including hornbills, gibbons, and macaques. Visitors come to hike through well-maintained trails, explore several waterfalls such as the prominent Asu Waterfall, and enjoy the cool mountain streams and natural pools. The park's natural beauty and biodiversity make it a popular destination for hiking, birdwatching, wildlife photography, and botany. Facilities include a park office with information, basic amenities, and rustic campsites for adventurous overnight stays. Established in 1983, Gunung Gading National Park plays an important role in conserving Sarawak's rich biodiversity and provides a window into Borneo’s unique tropical forest ecosystems.
