Wilderness Landscape & Natural Heritage

Hobbs State Park, located in the Ozark Mountains of northwest Arkansas, spans over 12,000 acres and is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts. This state park showcases the natural beauty of the region with its rolling hills, hardwood forests, and diverse ecosystems that support abundant wildlife including deer, wild turkeys, and a variety of bird species. Historically, the area was used for hunting and has seen logging operations in the past, but today it is protected land offering recreation and education. Key activities in the park include hiking, with over 30 miles of trails ranging from easy to challenging, mountain biking, and equestrian trails. The park is also popular for fishing, particularly in Beaver Lake, which borders the park to the north. This lake is renowned for its clean water and excellent bass fishing. The park features an impressive visitor center that provides interactive exhibits and educational programs focused on local history and natural resources. Hobbs State Park is also home to the historic Van Winkle Hollow, which provides visitors with a glimpse into 19th-century Ozark life.
