A small bus runs towards Amerlügen. We often went there as children; it's beautiful along the river. Back then, you were still allowed to barbecue there. The path runs relatively straight along slate rock where you can find lots of petrified ferns. You could go all the way to the Swiss border, so it's also well-suited for biking! Another positive is that it's usually not very winding. Above the Samina mountain, you'll find the Vorderälpele, then the Drei Schwestern (Three Sisters) at about 1700m, and then continue via the Fürstensteig (Prince's Trail) which leads down to Malbun, Switzerland. The Drei Schwestern are more suitable for experienced hikers, especially since there are short sections with small ladders. The Fürstensteig is rather narrow and rocky, so you should allow plenty of time. There's no lift, but there's a hut at Vorderälpele for overnight stays, and a similar one at Hinteralpele. SG Damej
