Marvelous Trolltunga: A Photographer's Dream

We took a guided tour of Trolltunga today and couldn’t be happier with this company and their guides. They were really nice, knowledgeable and prepared. A special shout out to Olaf and Ben. Their customer service was 6 stars..

Read the Terms & Conditions carefully before booking. They state that if a tour is cancelled due to extreme weather or other circumstances outside the company's control, no refund or compensation is provided. That became relevant to us at the end of August 2026, when our overnight hike was cancelled because of strong winds. We accepted a day hike instead, so that we would get something for what we had paid, and luckily the company did refund the price difference between the two tours. This only worked because we had a couple of spare days. If you are on a fixed itinerary, rescheduling is not much use to you, and under their terms there is no refund. What we had particularly wanted was the group experience. Instead the departure went ahead with just the two of us, something we were not consulted about, and only learned afterwards had been a deliberate exception to the three-participant minimum stated in their own terms. Some people would prefer a private hike, but we had specifically booked the group experience and were looking forward to sharing the day with other travellers. What made it worse was that our guide told us at the meeting point that he had woken up feeling unwell and did not know whether he would be able to do the hike. We asked whether we could cancel and be refunded instead, and were told no. He was kind and did his best, but it was unfair to put us in that position. Afterwards we set all of this out to the company and asked for half the day-hike price back. They acknowledged that things should have been communicated better and said they would review their procedures, but declined to refund anything. My view is that as long as you have proper waterproof and warm clothing and decent hiking boots, Trolltunga is very manageable on your own. And you are not risking your money on the weather.

Great experience with the kayak tour. Well-organised with good equipment. There’s a cafe where you can get food after. Would recommend 👍

Very professional company, friendly and knowledgeable guides, responsive and helpful over email. I did an overnight trek to Trolltunga, which I highly recommend over a day hike: more time at the site, you have the site without the crowds as most of the day hikers are gone by the time you get to it late afternoon, and last but not least, you get 2 chances to see Trolltunga (appreciated if the weather is bad on day 1, which happened to us when it was hidden in thick fog). The camp is good and facing the lake, 1km beyond Trolltunga. The main point for improvement is food, which was good but not sufficient for such a trek: lunch on day 1 was a small sandwich (and served past 3pm for some reason!), and on day 2 it was even smaller (less of an issue as we were close to the end). They do have plenty of snacks like chocolate and cookies, but in my view this doesn’t replace a proper meal, which I find very important for any trek - you need to fuel up properly throughout. Dinner and breakfast were adequate, but still on the small side (only one dish served). Overall, it was still a wonderful experience, with great guides passionate about the area and the outdoors and who did their best to make everyone happy. Big thanks!

Amazing. We went in mid-August and it wasn't crowded at all. There was very little wait for the "official photo at the summit." Parking P3 is essential in our opinion: we were very tired after the hike and were very glad to be parked in the closest car park!
